    Speech by the coordinator of the “UnWaste” project at the VII International Summer School “Integrated Management of Natural Resources in a Green Economy” The annual VII International Online Summer School "Integrated Management of Natural Resources in a Green Economy" was organized at the Kazakh Agrotechnical University named after S. Seifullin from June 21 to July 2, 2021 with the participation of more than 100 students, master's students, doctoral students, and teachers from 13 countries: Italy, Germany, Poland, Turkey, Morocco, Ireland, the Czech Republic, Sweden, the USA, Russia, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan. The organizer of the school was the Faculty of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment of KATU named after S. Seifullin. Lectures and practical classes were held daily by lecturers and professors from partner universities in the near and far abroad in the field of green economics and precision agriculture. The School lecturers presented the results of the EU Erasmus+ projects implemented at S. Seifullin KATU. Prof. Dr. Gunnar Prause from the University of Wismar, Germany, the project coordinator, presented information on the new UnWaste project “Development of a circular economy in partner countries by development and implementation of the Master's programme “Waste Management”. Professor Sergey Tyaglov, Director of the Institute of Sustainable Development and Environmental Protection of the Rostov State University of Economics, the Russian partner of the UnWaste project, also spoke with a report “Promising trends in the application of the foundations of a green economy”. The lecturers stressed that the direction of the UnWaste project is completely new, and the university will work on developing a module on Waste Management, which will be implemented in the Department of Ecology and Forestry and Forestry of the newly created Faculty of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment. According to the Dean of the Faculty, Dani Sarsekova, the main goal for the participants of the Summer School is to gain new knowledge, master innovative technologies and methods for conducting scientific research in the field of forestry, ecology and wildlife.

    Second working meeting on the EU Erasmus+ project “Un-Waste” On March 4, a meeting of the participants of the EU Erasmus+ project 618715-EPP-1-2020-1-DE-EPPKA2-CBHE-JPUn-Waste "Development of a circular economy (closed circle economy) in partner countries based on the development and implementation of the Master's program "Waste Management" was held. The online session was devoted to online content issues and discussion of technical issues related to the project topic. The project coordinators presented a three-year work schedule, which was approved by the project partners. Work packages were also reviewed, within which each partner-participant made their proposals on the methods and progress of work implementation. Thus, one of the first tasks of the project is to determine the needs of each university on the topic of waste management, identify strengths, select disciplines and practices that will help strengthen the existing program or create a new one taking into account the recommendations of European universities. During the discussion, some differences between universities were identified in terms of capabilities, focus and strategy for integrating the master's program into the university's curricula. Thus, within the framework of the master's program of KATU named after S. Seifullin, emphasis should be placed on agricultural waste, since this is the specificity of our university. In addition, a lot of work was done on the analysis of the methodology of the educational program. In the course development, it is necessary to use innovative methods and approaches based on the best practices that will be presented by European and Russian colleagues. A cross-case analysis of knowledge, transfer and training was conducted in 3 areas: a) the content and structure of the curriculum; b) pedagogical forms and methods; and c) participation of teachers and interaction with students. Thus, within the framework of the meeting, a wide range of issues were discussed, plans were approved, tasks were assigned and the amount of work that must be completed by each partner university was determined in order to further, by combining the best solutions, achieve the best results in training specialists in the field of waste management at our university.

    Kick-off conference of the next Erazums+ UnWaste project On 11.02.2021, the kick-off conference of the next Erazums+ project was held on the topic "Start of the daily implementation of the project 618715-EPP-1-2020-1-DE - EPPKA2-CBHE-JP "UnWaste - Promoting the circular economy in partner countries through the development and implementation of the master's program "Waste Management". The conference was moderated by: Professor Dr. Gunnar Prause (Project Coordinator), Professor Dr. Anna Svirina (Coordinator RF), and Dr. Elena Kandalina (Coordinator RK). The conference was attended by representatives of the following universities: TISBI University of Management, Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, Rostov State University of Economics, Saken Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University, Shokan Ualikhanov Kokshetau State University. The conference discussed the project implementation plan and issues of further cooperation, expectations of the Erasmus+ programme in the area of capacity building in higher education, gaps in waste management curricula and much more. Presentation and first competitions within the UnWaste project The head of the accounting and management department, Baikin Aidar Kosymovich, and the teacher, Baizhanova Liliya Abdul-Nasyrovna, presented the project "Development of a circular economy by developing and implementing a master's program "Waste Management" at the next meeting of the directorate of the P. Chuzhinov Institute of Economics and Law. During the discussion of the project, the director of the institute, Tabuldenov A.N., noted the relevance of the topic and the great prospects of this area. Following the meeting, colleagues made their proposals on the plan for implementing this project and creating modules. During the implementation of the project "Development of the circular economy, through the development and implementation of the master's program "Waste Management" under the supervision of the research community "Erasmus +" a competition was held for the best project logo, which will be presented by the working group of the Kostanay Regional University named after A. Baitursynov. The competition was held among students of the Institute of Economics and Law named after P. Chuzhinov. The working groups of the specialties management, accounting and audit reached the final of the competition, which presented their vision of the concept and corporate palette of the logo. A joint meeting of representatives of waste collection and recycling enterprises of the Kostanay region, students, teachers of the Department of Ecology and Geography, members of the UnWaste project working group allowed the participants to get acquainted with the project and how the development of the master's educational program on waste management is being carried out at the department. Representatives of the enterprises told about themselves and the enterprises, shared their opinions on the relevance of training specialists. An agreement was reached on the joint development of competencies for the educational program. Competition "Waste and its recycling (UnWaste)" in KRU named after A. Baitursynov The Department of Biology, Ecology and Chemistry of the V. Dvurechensky Agricultural Institute of the A. Baitursynov KRU held a competition of wall newspapers and posters "Waste and its recycling (UnWaste project)" as part of the celebration of the ErasmusDays 2021 event among university students. As you know, the International Days ErasmusDays 2021 were held around the world from October 14-16, the purpose of which is to introduce students to the Erasmus+ program, European values, the benefits of academic mobility, and the results of Erasmus+ projects. 14 Erasmus+ projects are being implemented at A. Baitursynov KRU, two of them are at the Department of Biology, Ecology and Chemistry. The competition of wall newspapers and posters "Waste and its recycling" is held as part of the UnWaste project, which promotes the popularization of ecological thinking among students. The local coordinator of the project is Gulnara Yunusova. About 40 students of the educational programs "Ecology", "Biology", "Veterinary Sanitation", "Physics" took part in the competition. According to the results of the competition, the 1st place was taken by group 21-411-13 of the OP "Ecology", 2nd place also went to students of the OP "Ecology" groups 21-411-12, 19-411-12, 3rd place went to 2nd year students of the OP "Biology" and "Physics". The jury members presented the winners of the competition with certificates and wished them further success in their studies and high achievements. The first meeting of the working group on the UnWaste project at the Akhmet Baitursynov State University of Agriculture On February 15, 2021, the first meeting of the working group on the project "Development of a circular economy through the development and implementation of the master's program "Waste Management" supervised by the Erasmus+ scientific community was held at the A. Baitursynov Kostanay Regional University. The working group of the Kostanay Regional University is headed by Acting Chairman of the Board-Rector of the A. The class was held with 2nd year Master's students of the OP 7M05201-"Geoecology and Nature Management", and first/second year students of 7M07102 "Electric Power Engineering", in the disciplines "Rational Energy Use of Production Waste and Energy Saving" and "Modern Energy Problems" The discipline of the educational program 7M05201-Geoecology and Nature Management was developed as a result of the implementation of the project objectives, and provides for a project-based teaching method, in which master's students develop scientific and innovative projects based on the assignment of specific enterprises. The field training at the Allur plant (Kostanay) was held with the invitation of the speaker - Shadrina Dinara Bostanovna, who is a well-known entrepreneur, a member of the association of social innovators, as well as with the invitation of specialists from the enterprise's services. Dinara Bostanovna held a seminar-training on the topic of waste management, shared her entrepreneurial experience, and also demonstrated her eco-products. The graduate students expressed their gratitude to the organizers and Dianra Shadrina for a good and informative master class and expressed hope for further meetings. After this, specialists from the production held a meeting with the graduate students and the teacher, where they determined the topics of future projects, which are based on solving the problems of the enterprise in processing industrial waste. These classes, using the project-based method of on-the-job training, help to increase the effectiveness of the learning process for master's students, develop research skills, strengthen the personally oriented approaches to educational procedures, theoretical analysis of scientific literature, and generalization of research results. Integration of education and production within the framework of the Erasmus + UnWaste project at the KRU named after A. Baitursynov On December 27, 2023, at the Kostanay Allur plant, master's students of the educational program "7M05201-Geoecology and Nature Management" successfully defended their projects on the topic of "Management and recycling of industrial waste" as part of the Erasmus + project task Advancing circular economy in partner countries by development and implementation of Master's program "Waste management" / (UnWaste). During the entire course of the discipline "Rational energy use of production waste and energy saving" the master's students studied a number of cases on waste management, under the guidance of Ph.D., head of the Department of "Electric Power Engineering" Koshkin I.V. and teacher of the Department of Mathematics and Physics Ogarkova A.I. After theoretical training, the master's students began practical activities, implementing the acquired knowledge in solving problems of real production. At the Allur plant, the graduate students studied three topics: recycling wood waste, paper, and polyethylene. Organizational support for the graduate students' research was provided by Saniya Imentaeva, Head of the Higher Engineering School, Allur University specialist Bakyttyzhuldyz Bayanbaeva, and the head of Allur University Olkinyan Lyudmila Yuryevna. In addition, technical and information support was provided by the Head of the Occupational Health and Safety Service of the Allur plant, Agdavletov Erbolat Satybaldinovich, and environmental engineer Saparbekova Amina Serikovna. As a result, the graduate students proposed and successfully defended original solutions within the framework of the project’s tasks, which were enthusiastically supported by specialists from the plant and Allur University. All participants expressed the opinion that involving students of higher education institutions in project and research activities based on specific enterprises and industries allows for the formation of general cultural competencies and the acquisition of new knowledge in the field of design, allows for the learning of how to correctly formulate a project concept, generate innovative solutions, and master the scientific foundations and methods of technology transfer.
