      We invite you to take part in the scientific game "My ecological world without waste. Battle of the Connoisseurs!", dedicated to the International Day for a World without Waste, which is celebrated on March 30.

       Speaker and moderator: Victoria Lavrinovich, student of the 02-051-22-03 Ecology group.

Organizers: members of the Ecolife club, 1st and 2nd year students of the Ecology Department, teaching staff of the Ecology Department.

      The International Day for a World Without Waste is celebrated on March 30. The International Day for a World Without Waste aims to promote sustainable consumption and production patterns and raise awareness of how waste-free production initiatives contribute to advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

It is estimated that humanity annually produces 2.24 billion tons of solid household waste, of which only 55 percent is disposed of in controlled enterprises. By 2050, this figure may rise to 3.88 billion tons per year. The waste sector contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions in urban environments and the loss of biodiversity. About 931 million tons of food are lost or discarded each year, and it is expected that by 2040 up to 37 million tons of plastic waste will enter the world's oceans each year.

On December 14, 2022, the United Nations General Assembly officially recognized the importance of waste management and proclaimed March 30 as the International Day for a World Without Waste, which will be celebrated annually starting in 2023.
